Queensland bushfires can spread quickly and are hard to predict. It is important to know what to do if a bushfire starts during your visit.

• Find your local ABC radio station to listen to disaster updates.

• Ask your accommodation or tour provider what safety measures you should take early on.

• Decide if it's safer to leave early and travel to another location if bushfires are burning in the places you hope to travel to or are already travelling through, plan a new travel route to avoid the affected areas.

• Avoid areas when the Fire Danger Rating is extreme or catastrophic.

• Have a plan to stay in touch with travel companions and loved ones back home.
