Visitors and locals are usually given at least 1 – 2 days to prepare before a cyclone is predicted to hit. But there may be far less warning for a severe storm or flooding.
Find your local ABC radio station to listen to disaster updates.
Ask your accommodation or tour provider what safety measures you should take early on.
Decide if it's safer to leave early and travel to another location.
Have a plan to stay in touch with travel companions and loved ones back home.
